19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his first title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a torrid period, managing just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after spring of that year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at 21 different events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet saved four initial chances in a competitive final set before the champion secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
